How I Work
I was given a recent assignment to respond to the following questions regarding my work style. After reading, let me know - how do you work?
Location: Very small apartment in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Current gig: Esthetician at Skin Deep and participant at Praxis.
Current mobile device: iPhone Xs. And yes, the camera is so worth it.
Current computer: Lenovo Yoga.
One word that best describes how you work: Intensely.
What apps/software/tools can’t you live without? Notes, Maps, and Spotify are probably my most used apps aside from social media. Google Docs is also a favorite.
What’s your workspace like? Currently, not ideal. The kitchen table and a rock-hard chair are what I rely on at home, however, I love to break things up by going to a coffee shop once or twice a week. I would go more often if it wasn’t hard on the wallet. Once we move out of our apartment I will hopefully have an office space!
What’s your best time-saving trick? Making phone calls while I walk my dog.
What’s your favorite to-do list manager? My good ol’ Notes app!
Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without? Nail clippers. Having long fingernails as an esthetician is a big no-no.
What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? Processing, I think. I feel like I’m able to visually take in information and sort it quickly.
What are you currently reading? Setting the Table by Danny Meyer and my Bible.
What do you listen to while you work? Spotify’s playlist Daydreamer has been a favorite of mine over the past month. If I’m not listening to that, whatever I’m listening to will definitely be instrumental! I wish I could focus while listening to music with lyrics, but sadly I cannot.
Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert? 50/50. A full day of social activity is exhausting, but nights out with friends are the best. At work, I prefer an equal mix of alone time and time with co-workers.
What’s your sleep routine like? I usually go to bed between 10-11pm and wake up between 6:30-7:30am.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? “Beware the lollipop of mediocrity; lick it once and you’ll suck forever.” -Brian Wilson
