I bring Morning Brew up because somehow, they have successfully obtained almost one million subscribers since starting in 2015.
Let’s take a look at some of their copy.
Above, you see a simple landing page. What’s great about this page? It takes you 7 seconds to read every word. It tells you that you can be smarter in just 5 minutes. It makes boring old news sound interesting.
How did they accomplish all of that in less than 50 words? With great copy. How do we incorporate such tactics ourselves? Let’s break down what they are saying.
They tell you that you can…
Become smarter in just 5 minutes.
Join a lot of other people who have subscribed (making them seem popular).
Read about business happenings and not fall asleep from boredom.
Essentially, they seem to be using this formula…
Draw audience in with a main benefit and easy landing page.
Show that others are happy with the company.
Customers are happy with product and end up referring others.
The copy doesn’t end on their landing page. Take a look at the last section of each daily email.
The give you 3 simples steps to make your friends (or enemies) smarter and to get a reward for doing so. Brilliant.
